Earrings Shine at Elle Tribute

Hollywood’s A-list beauties sparkled at Elle’s 15th annual Women in Hollywood tribute last night in Beverly Hils. And it was all about the earring on the red carpet.

Diamond hoops found their way on a gorgeous Halle Berry and Courtney Cox-Arquette, Amber Tamblyn had diamonds dropping from her ears and Jennifer Lopez and icon, Jane Fonda, showed off their diamond cluster looks. Golden danglers lit up Kate Beckinsale and American Idol, Katherine McPhee, and the always-classic Nicole Kidman wore what appear to be small, tasteful gemstones.

This year's honorees included Halle Berry, Jane Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Sigourney Weaver, Isla Fisher and director Catherine Hardwicke - all of whom are featured in the magazine's November issue.

"Someday hopefully it won't be necessary to allocate a special evening to celebrate where we are and how far we've come," Sigourney Weaver said. "Someday women writers, producers and crew members will be so commonplace, and roles and salaries for actresses will outstrip those for men, and pigs will fly."

Kidman thanked all the directors who "molded" her, particularly the late Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack.

"They were men in Hollywood who loved women," she said.

Fonda thanked all the women in the house - and Hollywood itself.

"Aren't we glad we're not bankers," she said. "We are in the most fantastic business."

Yellow Gold Goes Bold This Season!

The summer winds are still blowing jewelry lovers, and The JI has the perfect accessory to compliment that hard-earned tan. Go for the gold! This week, more than 30 fine jewelry designers featured their bold gold looks at the Style LA fashion show hosted by the Kardashian sisters at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. Do those gals ever sleep? The event, now in it’s sixth year, celebrated swim and resort wear fashion in support of worthy charities, Facial Paralysis Foundation and Stop the Violence/Face the Music.

Statement earrings, stackable bangles and cuffs, and the current must-have for your jewelry box – the pendant necklace - were the featured looks on the runway as models strutted poolside wearing looks from nine different designers, including, Christian LaCroix and Monique Leshman.

“The versatility, warmth and allure of yellow gold proved a perfect fit for this wide array of fashion collections,” said Duvall O’Steen, Director of Jewelry PR for the World Gold Council. “Only gold can complement every skin tone and every color under the sun.” I couldn’t agree more.

And if you are only looking for one key accessory to bring with you on that island vacation, stick with the tried-and-true gold hoop earring. Just take it up a notch with a larger size or wider band to reflect the season’s ‘bigger is better’ trend.

So, like most Olympic hopefuls, we have gold on our mind this week. Don’t let the summer go by without adding a little glow to your poolside style!

Gold Earrings, Black Gems - The Longchamp Look

Exclusive French accessories brand, Longchamp, is celebrating its 60th year of styling the jetset and that means it's time to partyyyyyy. They've partied in Europe, and now they're crossing the Ocean and partying in the US of A - well at least New York.

Yesterday La Maison Unique in the Big Apple celebrated the luxury brand's B-day with some stylish sparkle and stylish guests.

Accessorizing in style were stars such as Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Leighton Meester, all following our advice to keep the jewelry to ONE statement making piece. Necks were bare and the ears, once again, had it. Dangly earrings and outsized circles were the jewels du jour. Both gold hoops and black stones were popular - it appears the stylists are following this blogger's advice to the tee.......

And so they should.

Pretty In Pink

At the New York premiere of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Indie's other half looked surreally stunning in a delicate pink dress.....

Calista Flockheart has the 'ethereal' look down to a tee. Eschewing the bold colors seen of late, she stayed true to the more neutral shades that only a few can pull off. And she can.

A pair of pink sapphire earrings with a diamond splash would be the perfect accessory for such a delicate look. And, if you're looking for something on the lighter side, what could be more perfect than a pink sapphire angel pendant like this one from Jewelry.com.

Riveria Rocks - Cannes Sparkles

The Cannes Film Festival is just as much about the frocks and the rocks as it is the movies and the art. It may be Europe's powerhouse movie fiesta, but it's just as much a fashion fete. A-listers, B-listers and the 'who are they' run to the Riveria to be seen in their sparkly best. It doesn't matter whether they have a movie showing or not. It's more about their showing than any 'art' showing.

This year, glam is simply a case of black and white. Colors were mostly muted with many of the silver screen's beauties opting for black or white or a mixture of both.Jewelry was, as has been over the past 12 months, focused on the ears.

Oversized drop earrings were the take home winners of the day, with once again, necklines baring all.It is Europe though and that means chic - especially Chanel-style chic reigns. Pearls were out in force under the Southern French sun.

From large drops framing the face to Dita Von Teese's ultra swank necklace, it was a perfect place to be a pearl.
