Is Paris Hilton Engaged?

Last week, Paris Hilton appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman to promote her new movie, Repo! The Genetic Opera. But it was the gi-normous diamond ring on her left hand that got all of the attention. The Rock of Gibralter has nothing on this bauble, people.

When an obviously smitten Dave asked the heiress about the ice, she coyly replied that it was a gift from ‘someone’. She went on to talk about her relationship with musician, Benji Madden, and gushed at their “boyfriend/girlfriend” status.

"I love him," Hilton said. "He’s a good guy."

The two appeared later in the week at the Repo premiere at Sin City’s Planet Hollywood, where she admitted to an Extra reporter that the two lovebirds might get married and have kids “someday”.

Let’s hope her "boyfriend" gives her better reviews than the film is garnering. Yikes.

Diamonds clearly suit her better than the “thespian” life.

MTV Rockers In Black And White

It was a usual starry L.A. evening. Traffic was snarled, the C-listers scouted around for an invite and the A (and B) listers hit the stylists, make-up artists and hairdressers for another day's preening.

The MTV movie awards is, like other awards, just as much about the fashion, as the accolades. This year it was, once again, a case of black and white. Or, to be more precise, black and black.

Take lovebirds Paris Hilton and Benji Madden, she was b/w retro and he was classic rocker grunge. Sarah Jessica Parker was black mini and white booties and the Pussycat dolls were just going for black.

And, once again, it was bare necks and sparkly ears. Diamonds were the jewels of choice under the hair, with black stones (such as black diamonds and onyx making sure the dark side was included).

The Black Diamond Un-Scandal

Oh please - sometimes people (i.e. tabloids) come out with the most ridiculous ideas. My latest peeve is the headlines slamming Carmen Electra's new fiance, Rob Patterson. The poor guy apparently committed a greater sin than mere cheating, lying, stealing, drunk-driving, shooting-up etc. (i.e. the regular misdeamnours). What did he do? Well, he apparently bought a diamond ring and didn't want to pay more than he had to.

Apparently the Korn musician has a brain. Instead of going to a 'name' and paying a fortune just for the pleasure of having his finance state it's a #### ring. He searched around - found a different (black diamond) ring, something he thought his beloved would like. Probably researched the prices and bought something that was value for money.

According to the papers - this was not a wise move. “She seems really embarrassed,” an insider tells Life and Style Magazine. “I think the ring is a real deal breaker. She thought she’d be getting this giant rock. Instead, Rob bought it online for a bargain price!”

A bargain price???? Shame on him....

Actually shame on whoever thinks that finding a bargain is wrong. Since when is love measured by the price of the ring. Apparently too often. Surely a ring should be something the betrothed loves. Something that reflects her personality. Something unique to the couple. And surely internet bargains are great deals. After all, who wants to spend more than necessary.

Apparently - the black diamond ring cost just under $2000.

If only he'd asked, I would have sent him to Jewelry.com for JCPenney where they have this gorgeous, Champagne, Black and White diamond ring for under $900.
